How to lower the import duties?
You may find some suggestions on how to lower import duties here.

Though it is tricky with import duties, the best we can do is declare the value of the shipped goods at the lowest nominal market price as a standard assumption, which may still be taxable. However, you may find you just need to pay some nominal import duties.

This lowest market price is based on the manufacturing origin and might not be reflective of how much the item will cost you if bought in your local retail market.

We won't declare it too low, which might catch the attention of the custom. Once they check your package, they will ask you to provide the detailed information including payment information. Then they will charge the import duties based on the actual value, not the low value we provided.

Another way to declare it as personal gift. But it seems that it doesn't work so well.

The last tricky way is that if you happened to work in a factory related to our product. We can declare it as faulty return to you at a very low price.

Do I have to pay VAT / Sales Tax?

A sales tax is a consumption tax charged at the point of purchase for certain goods and services. The tax is usually set as a percentage by the government charging the tax. There is usually a list of exemptions. The tax can be included in the price (tax-inclusive) or added at the point of sale (tax-exclusive).

Value added tax (VAT), or goods and services tax (GST) is a sales tax on value added. It works by being charged on the sale price of goods and services whether purchased by intermediate or final consumers; however intermediate parties can reclaim VAT paid on their inputs, thus ensuring that the net VAT they pay is in effect based on the value added at that particular stage of the process.
